Viennese torten, kaffeeschokolade, coffee, tea – and chamber music! Lila Brown and graduate students from the The Boston Conservatory will sight-read viola duets and canons by Telemann and others in this cozy, casual mini-fundraiser.

Sunday June 5, 2pm
Cello seminar concert

The Cello Seminar of Music from Salem. MfS directors Rhonda Rider, cello, and Judith Gordon, piano, will be joined by guest cellist Scott Kluksdahl from Southern Florida University for an intensive week-long seminar for young professionally-bound cellists. Welcome in the summer with this end-of-the-week celebration concert by twelve cellists and one pianist.

Viola Seminar concert

In the tradition of the long-established Cello Seminar, MfS co-director Lila Brown, violist Leonard Matczynski (director of the Apple Hill Chamber Music Festival), and pianist Marc Ryser will lead an intensive week for young violists. After "visiting the room of their talent" in the magical atmosphere of the Brown Farm, they will present the fruit of the week's immersion at a concert at Hubbard Hall.

Grand Canyon Project Concert


Rhonda Rider, cello

As 2010-2011 Grand Canyon Artist-in-Residence, Rhonda Rider commissioned eleven composers to write pieces for solo cello inspired by the Grand Canyon.
These pieces will be performed accompanied by projected images of the Canyon.
